Taco Taco

This tiny but might taco restaurant, Taco Taco, is located on the corner off Hildebrand and McCullough. Taco Taco is a nation wide famous restaurant. Taco and the Food Network along voted in Americas Top Restaurant voted Taco “The Best Tacos in America”.  Taco Taco has been running for more than ten 10 years and has no sign of slowing down.  Their breakfast tacos are far superior to any other breakfast in the area (sorry Mabee).  When I eat at Taco Taco, I normally get 3 carnitas and a carne asada taco.  But lately I have been getting two machacados and on carnitas.  There is no better breakfast that you can have like Taco Taco, even after a long night out (studying that is) than this tiny taco “stand”.  However, because Taco Taco is supreme morning food, it gets to be quite crowded around breakfast time (that’s like 12 o’clock in the afternoon), this causes a very intimidating scene when you and your friends eventually get up and over there.  But wait! What you see is not what it seems, the dining area is very small and crowded and this is what actually causes the scary line.  So hold back your worries and when you first pull up, let a friend get out and get in line so you wont lose your place in line to some sneaky wanna-be Taco Taco goers.  The wait staff has a very good turn time and get people seated faster like its no ones business.  So sit back, eat some chips and slasa, talk about the evenings events no matter how clear or vauge they may be and enjoy yourself at this very fine establishment that is so cleverly named “Taco Taco”.

W. D. Deli

This small sandwich shop named W. D. Deli is a small sub shop which when you enter through the front door you feel like you are in a house.  The biggest reason for this is because that you are actually in a house.  There are actually quite amount of different combinations on the sandwiches and they also have very delicious soups and cookies for before and after your meal!  Last week when I ate there I had a turkey sandwich with bacon and American cheese and I also got it toasted, which made it ever so more enjoyable! And for those who feel like they will be hungry later on in the day I would strongly recommend getting some of their cake that is freshly made each day.  I can tell you now that it might be the best cake you have while you are at Trinity.  W. D. Deli is located on Broadway right across the street from Whataburger.  They are open Monday thru Saturday and this meal I can tell now will have you coming back to this place! I have never not enjoyed any of the food that I have gotten from here and I will tell you that their chocolate chip cookies are a must have

Main Street Pizza and Pasta

This small quaint restaurant is a delectable Italian pizza and pasta place.  When I eat at Main Street I get the margherita pizza with foccacia bread on the side with red sauce.  And if you have your Trinity ID card and show them you get free iced tea!  But if you are not feeling pizza however, when I go and eat with the football team a lot of the guys get spaghetti and meat sauce with a salad. Their shrimp fettuccini alfredo pasta is also very delicious.  Main Street Pizza is located at 1906 Main St which is west of campus.  They also have weekly drawings on their website (http://www.mainstreetsa.com/), where you can win free stuff.  Many of my friends at Trinity par-take in this weekly drawing.  If you are lucky you could win a Main Street Pizza shirt, which are really cool t-shirts.  So next time you are hungry and want some outstanding pizza and not drive too far away from campus then go and give Main Street a shot.

Chris Madrids

This burger joint first opened in 1977 when the owner, Chris Madrid, graduated from the University of Texas in Austin.  In the beginning the restaurant offered both tacos and burgers. But soon after the burgers became such a sensation that tacos were removed from the menu. Even through the years the restaurant is still family owned and in its original location on Blanco and Hollywood, about 5 minutes away from campus.  There are two sizes of burgers with six different varieties of the burgers. When I ate there I had the regular sized burger, which is still a significant amount of food, and I also got french fries on the side, which I highly recommend as they are a nice side to the already delicious hamburger.  And from the year 2000 to 2007, Chris Madrids had won the best burger award.  And the best part about it is that the burgers range from 4 to about 6 dollars in price, so its not busting anybodys wallet if you chose to dine at Chris Madrids.  An The layout of Chris Madrids is also very well planned with a large and spacious inside dining room and also for larger parties there is an outside dining area with plenty of fans for those hot summer days when you want to enjoy a nice burgers.

Olmos Bharmacy

Olmos Bharmacy is a quaint restaurant that is minutes away from campus.  It is located on the corner of Hildebrand and McCullough, across the street from Taco Taco.  The restaurant which used to be an actual pharmacy up until 1970 when the owner sold it to the present owner who converted the pharmacy into a restaurant.  From once you step inside you are instantly taken into the past with numerous vintage aspects of the decade.  From the clocks on the wall, the bar stools which are still bolted into the foundation, and the original pharmacy sign still hanging inside.  Now once the scenery of the place sets in it is time to think about food.  The menu ranges from a breakfast menu to burgers and fries.  But no matter what hour it is, the food is always good.  When I ate there this past weekend I chose the bubba burger wit bacon and French fries on the side.  I could not of chose a better meal; every aspect of the meal was delicious.  But really to top off my meal and the real reason I went to Olmos Bharmacy was for their milkshakes.  I heard from other players that I play with on the football team and I have even heard from a few professors that if you want an amazing milkshake that Olmos Bharmancy was the place to get one.  I got the vanilla milkshake and it was out of this world.  You even get an extra glass with more.
